Government Contract of Service (COS) and Job Order (JO) workers are set to receive an increase in their gratuity pay from PHP5,000 in 2023 to PHP7,000.
Malacañang released Administrative Order (AO) No. 28, allowing the granting of gratuity pay to COS and JO workers in the government for the fiscal year 2024.
"Granting a year-end Gratuity Pay to COS and JO workers is a well-deserved recognition of their hard work and valuable participation in the implementation of various PAPs of the government, and their pivotal role in the delivery of government services amidst the present socio-economic challenges," the AO read.
Under the directive, those eligible to receive the PHP7,000 gratuity pay are workers who have rendered at least four months of satisfactory service as of December 15, 2024, and whose contracts remain valid on the same date.
Meanwhile, workers who have rendered less than four months of satisfactory service as of December 15 may still receive gratuity pay on a pro-rata basis.
COS and JO workers who have served for at least three months but less than four months will receive gratuity pay of up to PHP6,000.
Furthermore, those who have rendered at least two months but less than three months are entitled to a maximum of PHP5,000, while workers with less than two months of service will receive up to PHP4,000.
The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) explained that the government’s aid to workers this Christmas is a response to both the holiday season and the recent spate of disasters in the country.
