The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced that qualified government employees will begin receiving their midyear bonus starting Thursday, May 15.

During a Facebook livestream, DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman confirmed the announcement, adding that the bonus will be equivalent to one month’s basic salary, as stipulated in DBM Budget Circular No. 2017-2.

Furthermore, she noted that the bonus will be extended to permanent, contractual, and casual personnel in both national and local government units, as well as to eligible civilian and military uniformed personnel.

"Isang buwang sahod po ang equivalent nitong midyear bonus natin. Kasama pong makakatanggap dito ang mga permanent, contractual, at casual personnel, both in the national and local government units," said Pangandaman.

"Kasama po rito ang qualified civilian and military uniformed personnel," she added.

In relation to this, DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman reminded all government agencies and offices to ensure the timely release of bonuses for their employees.

She stated that President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. believes the timely distribution of the midyear bonus is only fitting, as a gesture of appreciation for the sacrifices, hard work, and unwavering service of government employees to the Filipino people.

Employees are eligible for the bonus if they have rendered at least four months of service between July 1 of the prior year and May 15 of this year, and have received a satisfactory or better rating in their latest performance review.

For part-time employees, the midyear bonus will be computed on a pro-rata basis, in proportion to the services they have actually rendered.

Those eligible to receive the midyear bonus include all civilian personnel — whether regular, casual, or contractual; appointive or elective; full-time or part-time — in the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of government.

This also covers employees in constitutional commissions and offices, state universities and colleges (SUCs), government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs), and local government units (LGUs).

Uniformed personnel are likewise entitled to the bonus, including members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Philippine Public Safety College, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bureau of Corrections, Philippine Coast Guard, and the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA).
