More than nine million ballots have been printed for the 2025 midterm elections so far, according to a report from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) released on Sunday.
Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia reported that 9,460,780 ballots have been printed at the National Printing Office as of 7 p.m. This represents 13% of the total 72.1 million ballots required for the 2025 elections.
In this regard, the poll body still needs to produce 62,646,420 ballots.
Comelec aims to print 1.5 million ballots daily to make up for the shortened timeframe for producing official ballots.
The update comes a week after printing resumed at the National Printing Office.
It can be recalled that printing was postponed following the issuance of the Supreme Court's temporary restraining orders against the disqualification of certain candidates.
Garcia reiterated that Comelec still aims to complete the ballot printing by April 14.
The midterm elections are scheduled for May 12.
