American actor and stunt performer Edward “Ed” Gale, “has taken his final bow and is now headlining in the afterlife,” his niece, Kayse Gale, wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday evening (Philippine time), announcing the news of the former’s passing. He was 61.
Ed was most known for being the stunt double for “Chucky” in the “Child’s Play” series and the film “Howard the Duck.”
According to his niece’s social media post, Ed began his acting journey at 20 years old, when he traveled to California.
“He lit up the silver screens in cult classic films like Howard the Duck and Chopper Chicks in Zombie Town, earning himself some serious street cred at every con he attended. Which he never stopped bragging about. Ever,” Kayse wrote.
“Over the course of his career he appeared in over 130 movies, TV shows, and commercials. With this wide ranging body of work, he leaves behind legacy full of questionable lighting and amazing one-liners,” she added.
Ed often talked about the entertainment industry and the magic of Hollywood, Kayse said.
However, in 2023, Ed admitted to Creep Catcher’s (CC) Unit in a sting operation that he had attempted to communicate with a minor with the intent of engaging in sexual acts. The 59-year-old actor at the time also admitted that he thinks he may have spoken with 10 other victims.
According to media reports, detectives confiscated electronic devices at the scene, but the actor was not taken into custody.
