Brian Poe Lamanzares, the first nominee of the FPJ Panday Bayanihan Partylist, was awarded the International Golden Seal of Merit and Excellence Award (IGSMEA) for his leadership in community service and efforts to empower local communities.
As part of the award, donations were made in Poe’s name to two important organizations: the Josefheim Foundation, which provides care for the poor and elderly, and the Center for Health Improvement and Life Development Haus (C.H.I.L.D Haus) in Paco, Manila, a home for children with cancer.
Poe, known for his work supporting the elderly and children, reaffirmed his commitment to these causes.
"FPJ Panday Bayanihan, are one with you in supporting your advocacy of pushing to do more for cancer awareness, treatment and prevention for all Filipinos. Let’s continue working together to fight the Big C!," said Poe.
Supporting Important Causes
The Josefheim Foundation, located in Rizal, provides shelter and care for the poor, sick, and elderly. According to a report, about 57% of elderly Filipinos don’t receive enough income or pensions, making organizations like Josefheim essential.
The C.H.I.L.D Haus, located in Manila, is the only temporary home in the Philippines for children with cancer who are undergoing treatment. Each year, about 5,000 Filipino children are diagnosed with cancer, many at an advanced stage. According to the Philippine Cancer Society, over 80% of Filipino families can’t afford the cost of cancer treatment.
Poe’s Ongoing Advocacy
Brian Poe’s commitment to helping the community was also recognized in September when he was named one of the “Men of Exemplary Influence” by the Philippine Cancer Society.
The IGSMEA thanked Poe for his efforts and said that supporting these organizations helps improve the lives of vulnerable children and families in need.
