The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Tuesday announced that it had generated Php 745.50 billion, exceeding its target of Php 721.52 billion in revenue collection for 2022.
In a press release, BOC said their 2022 target exceeded by Php 23.98 billion or 3.27 percent as early as Nov. 11.
It added that 17 collection districts also reached their respective collection goal and garnered a surplus of Php 103.29 billion as of Oct. 31.
“This year's revenue collection performance historically marks the highest revenue collection of the agency to date,” the agency said.
BOC Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz attributed the revenue collection performance to his strict implementation of programs to thwart smuggling and corruption.
He also ascribed it to the agency's optimize revenue collection, and digitalize and enhance customs operations which are anchored on the eight-point socioeconomic agenda of President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.
