The Bureau of Customs (BOC) and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) have entered into an agreement to speed up and ensure trade security in the country.
The purpose of the data sharing agreement, signed by Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio and PEZA Director General Tereso Panga, is to provide access to the electronic tracking of containerized cargo (e-tracc) systems for the two agencies.
Moreover, the BOC will supervise the cargo at the ports where it enters, while the PEZA is responsible for regulating and monitoring the operation of businesses in the economic zones.
Through the e-tracc system, there will be real-time monitoring of containerized goods while traveling to different places.
Under the data sharing agreement, the PEZA will be able to use the BOC’s e-tracc system data to know where containerized goods are while outside the economic zone.
