Former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Monday urged her fellow Kapampangan to give the tandem of Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte-Carpio a "landslide victory" in the upcoming national elections.
During a campaign rally in Pampanga, Arroyo said that in order for Marcos Jr. to be a good president, he needs a vice president like Duterte-Carpio.
“Even if BBM is smart, she needs Mayor Inday Sara Duterte as his vice president. So let’s make her win by a landslide in Pampanga," said the former chief executive, who is currently running as congresswoman for Pampanga's second district.
"We are endorsing her because of the help which her father, President Rody Duterte, provided Pampanga. Let us return the favor," she added.
Arroyo, who is speaking based on experience, recalled how "lucky" she was to have broadcaster Noli de Castro as her vice president during her term.
The event was held on the eve of Macapagal-Arroyo’s 75th birthday.
As a birthday greeting, former president Joseph 'Erap' Estrada offered to be the campaign manager of Arroyo, his former vice president, if the latter decided to run for office.
"I hope you run again, I’ll be your campaign manager," Estrada told Arroyo.
"We need you, we need you" he added.
