Another resident staying in an evacuation center in the Municipality of Daraga, Albay tested positive for COVID-19, the Albay Provincial Information Office (PIO) confirmed on Wednesday.
Citing a report from the Department of Health - Bicol Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD), Albay PIO said the COVID-19 positive evacuee is among the 30 close contacts of the first COVID-19 positive resident.
“[T]hough asymptomatic, the patient was immediately transferred and is now being treated at the Daraga infirmary,” it said.
The remaining 29 residents tested negative for COVID-19.
The Albay PIO said the Local Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit is working together with DOH's One Mayon Disease Surveillance Team in tracing the new patient’s close contacts.
It added that the Albay Provincial Health Office as well as DOH-CHD continuously remind residents in evacuation centers to follow health protocols like wearing face masks, sanitizing hands with alcohol, and practicing social distancing.
“DOH also encouraged the evacuees to immediately consult in the medical clinics the moment they feel even just one of the symptoms of COVID and get vaccinated and take booster shots,” the Albay PIO said.
On Monday, an evacuee displaced in the Gabawan evacuation center in Daraga town tested positive for COVID-19.
The said evacuee has been isolated and is now staying at an infirmary for medication.
