

Aklan Governor Joen Miraflores has ordered the authorities to conduct an in-depth investigation into the real motive behind the killing of Ibajay Vice Mayor, Julio Estolloso on Friday, August 8.
In a report by Aksyon Radyo Iloilo's Jocelyn Maque on RH Balita, the governor was shock over the incident, noting that the victim and the suspect, which was identified as Sangguniang Bayan member or councilor Mihrel Senatin were known political allies with no reported personal conflict.
According to the Ibajay Municipal Police Station Chief, Police Major Rajiv Sabino, the incident took place at around 9:15 a.m.
The suspect allegedly entered the SB building in an angry manner and even requested copies of all ordinances from his term from the staff.
After that, Senatin then approached the vice mayor, asked what wrong he had done, and suddenly fired several shots using a Glock 17 pistol.
"While inside the SB office, the suspect asked for a copy of all ordinances of Ibahay during his term to the staff dun po sa office. And then the suspect approached the victim while asking, to quote, "Vice, ano ang salaki mo?" So ibig sabihin po, Vice, ano kasalanan ko sa iyo?," said Sabino.
"And then without apparent reason, he drew his firearm and shot the victim, hitting him on the left chest," he added.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds to the left side of the chest and was declared dead on arrival at the Ibajay District Hospital.
Authorities recovered the firearm used in the attack along with several spent shells of ammunition.
Sabino reported that the suspect was immediately arrested at his residence.
The suspect is now in the custody of Ibajay police and is facing criminal charges.
