Inflation once again ranked the top urgent national concern of many Filipinos, according to the results of the latest Pulse Asia survey.

The survey, conducted from Sept. 17 to 21 on 1,200 adults, showed that 66 percent of Filipinos answered that the Marcos administration should focus on controlling inflation.

This September's result is 9 percent higher than the 57 percent of Filipino adults who said controlling inflation should be the top priority of the Marcos admin last June 2022.

While the second-ranked national concerns in September 2022 were increasing workers’ pay at 44 percent, followed by job creation at 35 percent, reducing poverty at 34 percent, and 22 percent said corruption should also be addressed.

The other national concerns are as follows:

  • Fighting graft and corruption in government (22 percent)
  • Fighting criminality (19 percent)
  • Addressing the problem of involuntary hunger (17 percent)
  • Enforcing the law on all, whether influential or ordinary people (12 percent)
  • Providing support to small entrepreneurs to restore their businesses (9 percent)
  • Stopping the destruction and abuse of our environment (9 percent)
  • Promoting peace in the country (8 percent)
  • Reducing the amount of taxes paid (7 percent)
  • Controlling the spread of COVID-19 (5 percent)
  • Defending the integrity of Philippine territory against foreigners (5 percent)
  • Protecting the welfare of OFWs (4 percent)
  • Preparing to face any kind of terrorism (2 percent)

The survey was conducted using face-to-face interviews with adults ages 18 years old and above.
