President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has approved the proposed PHP 6.793 trillion budget for the National Expenditure Program (NEP) for fiscal year 2026, the Malacañang announced Tuesday, July 15.

In a Palace briefing, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated that the proposed budget will boost the country’s quality of education and improve the lives of Filipinos.

“Sa layuning mapataas ang kalidad ng edukasyon sa Pilipinas at pag-aani ng pamumuhay ng mga Pilipino, inaprubahan ni President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang P6.793 trillion proposed budget para sa susunod na taon,” Castro said.

The President highlighted during a cabinet meeting on Tuesday morning that the 2026 budget would not only uplift the quality of life for all Filipinos but also drive economic growth.

“Sa ilalim ng Marcos administration mahalaga ang kapakanan ng bawat isa at ang kinabukasan ng taumbayan tungo sa mas progresibo at Bagong Pilipinas,” Castro ended.

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah Pangandaman previously stated that the proposed 2026 national budget would prioritize investments in healthcare, the quality of education, and upskilling the workforce, amidst the global uncertainties.
