A three-year-old child died on Monday, March 24, after being trapped inside their house during a fire in Barangay Namayan, Mandaluyong.
In a live report by Edniel Parrosa, the boy's hand was seen from the burning house, but rescuers were unable to retrieve him as the fire was still under a second alarm.
He was identified by his father, who is among the four others who sustained injuries, as reported by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
It was later discovered that the house was part of an establishment where "litsunan" (roast pork) was being cooked. Beside it was a large warehouse filled with cardboard, which contributed to the rapid spread of the fire.
The tragedy occurred past 6:00 AM, and the fire was quickly raised to a second alarm.
The fire was declared under control at 8:35 AM.
The BFP is still investigating the cause of the incident, but witnesses said that the electricity inside the "litsunan" room may have been the possible cause of the fire.
