Three young girls on their way to school were run over by a truck in San Fernando, Bukidnon on Wednesday, January 22.

The tragic accident occurred on the side of the road along Barangay Cayaga.

Police Major Joann Navarro, the Spokesperson for the Police Regional Office 10, said two of the girls were sisters aged nine and seven. The third girl was their friend, also nine years old.

The 41-year-old driver of the 10-wheeler truck admitted to having fallen asleep while behind the wheel. His vehicle had been swaying when the children appeared.

The driver is now facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide.
