The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) revealed on Wednesday, July 10, that they had arrested two out of the three minors allegedly responsible for robbing and repeatedly stabbing a UP Diliman student in Quezon City.
QCPD Director Police Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said the victim positively identified the suspects, who are aged 14 and 15 and residents of Barangay Krus na Ligas. The director said CCTV footage from Barangay UP Campus sped up the operation.
The hold-up took place on Monday night. The teenage boys were observing 18-year-old Irish Lu Cortel Pimentel as she jogged in front of the College of Electrical Engineering past 8 PM. They approached, pointed a knife at her, and told her that it was a hold-up. They attacked when the victim screamed for help and took her Samsung phone, ID, and wallet with an ATM card and P500 in cash.
The victim was stabbed at least 11 times in different areas of her body before the suspects fled the scene, and was immediately brought to the hospital. She is currently recuperating from her wounds.
Her possessions were recovered from the suspects, who will be facing charges. They will then be turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The third suspect, a 16-year-old, is still on the loose.
