Three vehicles were reportedly damaged after a molotov bomb or improvised flaming device exploded at the open parking lot of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA-3) on Saturday morning, September 23.

In a press statement, the management of the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said the initial investigation showed that a faint noise explosion was heard at the NAIA-3 open parking lot.

“When inspected, a glass bottle containing flammable liquid and wrapped with a cloth was shattered, its particles hitting three vehicles parked near where it landed,” it said.

No individuals were reportedly hurt due to the bomb explosion.

MIAA officer-in-charge Bryan Co has directed the airport police department to augment police visibility as well as foot and K9 patrol around the NAIA Terminal areas.

“Co also calls on the airport community for continued cooperation by reporting suspicious looking individuals as well as unusual movement of people in the airport complex,” MIAA management added.

As of Sunday, September 24, the perpetrator of the bomb explosion has yet to be identified.

The MIAA Airport Police Department (MIAA-APD) and the Philippine National Police -Aviation Security Unit (PNP-Avseu) are still investigating the incident.
