2 Manila public hospitals at full capacity; patients urged to seek other city hospitals
by Mary Antalan22 October 2024

The emergency rooms and wards of two public hospitals in the City of Manila are at full capacity, with the city government advising the public to seek other available hospitals in the city.

In an interview on Dos Por Dos on Tuesday, Manila City Mayor Honey Lacuna confirmed that the emergency room, internal emergency ward, and pediatric ward of the Ospital ng Maynila and Gat Andres Bonifacio Medical Center are at full capacity.

According to Lacuna, most of the diseases recorded in the city include community-acquired pneumonia, dengue, and acute gastroenteritis (AGE) or loose bowel movement (LBM).

Lacuna clarified that an advisory was issued to inform the public of the possibility that patients may not be accommodated in these two hospitals during emergencies.

Other LGU-run hospitals were suggested by the mayor including Ospital ng Tondo, Ospital ng Sampaloc, Sta. Ana Hospital, Tondo General Hospital and other private hospitals.

On Sunday, the Manila Public Information Office (PIO) released an advisory stating that Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center and Gat Andres Bonifacio Medical Center had limited space, asking new patients to consider seeking treatment at other public hospitals in the city.
