The Manila Local Government Unit (LGU) conducted a Mega Job Fair on Monday, August 25, at SM Manila, in front of the Manila City Hall, in celebration of National Heroes Day, as reported by RH 29 Boy Gonzales.
According to the Manila LGU, the job fair is part of the Heroes Day festivities, with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manila recognizing the heroism of every Filipino, from the country’s ancestors to modern-day heroes such as Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who continue to sacrifice for the country.
The LGU highlighted that the event not only serves as an opportunity for job seekers to find employment but also as a way to honor today's working heroes.
In addition, a one-stop shop was set up to help applicants process pre-employment requirements, with participating agencies including PhilHealth, SSS, PAG-IBIG, BIR, OWWA, NBI, and TESDA.
The job fair ran from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with several applicants reportedly hired on the spot.
