11.7K families affected by Mt. Kanlaon eruption -NDRRMC

More than 11,000 families have been displaced in the wake of Mount Kanlaon’s violent eruption, reported the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
On Thursday, the NDRRMC logged 11,791 families, equivalent to 40,489 individuals from 25 barangays in Western and Central Visayas. Of this number, 4,630 families (15,334 persons) have sheltered in 27 evacuation centers. Up to 677 families, or 2,522 persons, are receiving aid elsewhere.
So far, ₱6.43 million worth of aid has been distributed among these families by local government units (LGU) and non-government organizations (NGO), according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
