The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) warned the public of possible ashfall from Kanlaon Volcano early Monday, April 28.
According to the OCD, Kanlaon released ash at around 12:16 a.m. The agency reminded the public of the threat of a destructive explosion from the volcano, noting that its alert status could be raised to Level 4.
Kanlaon remains under Alert Level 3, which indicates a high level of volcanic unrest and the potential for sudden hazardous eruptions.
PHIVOLCS strongly advises the public to avoid the 6-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) due to the risks of sudden eruptions and other associated hazards.
Residents and local authorities are urged to stay vigilant and strictly follow all safety advisories.
