The Kanlaon Volcano has once again emitted an ash plume early Tuesday, January 21, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology's (PHIVOLCS) report.
PHIVOLCS shared time-lapse footage of ash emissions from the summit crater of Kanlaon Volcano recorded between 1:53 AM and 2:15 AM, as well as 5:23 AM to 5:39 AM.
According to PHIVOLCS, these events produced superheated and grayish plumes that rose up to 300 meters above the crater before drifting westward. The events were captured using a Thermal Camera at the Lower Masulog (VKLM) station located in Canlaon City.
Authorities have reminded residents around the volcano to remain vigilant, especially as Kanlaon Volcano remains under Alert Level 3.
The last ash emission was observed on January 20, 2025, between 1:36 PM and 1:44 PM.
The public is strongly advised to avoid the four-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) due to the risk of sudden explosions and rockfalls.
PHIVOLCS continues to closely monitor the condition of Kanlaon Volcano and will provide updates should there be any significant changes in its activity.
