Classes in some areas in Luzon have been canceled due to the effects of Typhoon Betty on Monday, May 29.
In its latest weather bulletin, PAGASA said Betty was last seen 525 km East of Aparri, Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 155 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 190 km/h, and central pressure of 950 hPa. It is moving Northwestward at 20 km/h.
Three areas are currently under Signal No. 2 as Typhoon Betty moves toward the East of Aparri in Cagayan province.
Below are the class cancellations for Monday, May 29:
- Apayao: all levels, public and private
- Pandan, Patnongon, Caluya, Libertad and San Jose de Buenavista in Antique: all levels, public and private
- Abra: preschool to Sr. high school, public and private
- Batanes: all levels, public and private
- Dinalungan, Aurora: all levels, public and private
- Cagayan: all levels, public and private
- Ilocos Sur: all levels, public and private; no work as well in government offices
- Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte: preschool to Sr. high school, public and private
- Luna, La Union: all levels, public and private
- Polillo, Quezon: preschool to sr. high school, public and private
- Alfonso Lista, Ifugao: preschool to Sr. high school, public and private

The state weather bureau said Typhoon Betty is forecasted to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Friday evening or Saturday morning.
