President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. challenged the media on Monday, August 11, to investigate the connections between lawmakers and the contractors he disclosed as being responsible for most of the country’s flood control projects.
During a press conference, the President was asked if the 15 contractors identified in government flood control initiatives had links to government officials, particularly members of Congress. Marcos responded with a questioning tone, “Wala na ba talaga tayong investigative journalist sa Pilipinas? Trabaho niyo ‘yan.”
He mentioned that his team would eventually look into the matter but stated it would be “premature” for him to reveal names until he understood the situation better.
“Go out there, tignan ninyo. Talk to the people, We need to hear from everyone,” he urged the reporters.
Marcos also emphasized the importance of fairness in assessing the reports, stating they would determine what is credible and what actions need to be taken.
“Let’s also be fair to everyone.. unless we have a good idea of what’s going on.” he added.
This exchange took place during the presentation of the key findings by Marcos's team regarding the issue of flood control projects in the country and the launch of the ‘Sumbong sa Pangulo’ website.
