Vice President Sara Duterte expressed her gratitude to Filipinos who extended their support and prayers to her family, particularly her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, amid their political struggles.
In an official statement late Wednesday, the Vice President specifically thanked Filipinos working at Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport for their assistance to her and the former President.
Furthermore, she conveyed her gratitude to all Filipinos who shared their messages, support, and prayers for her father and their family, as they navigate through challenging political circumstances.
"Maraming salamat din sa lahat ng mga Pilipinong nagpaabot ng mga mensahe, suporta, at panalangin para kay PRRD, sa akin, at sa aming buong pamilya na ngayon ay nahaharap sa matinding pagsubok sa pulitika," said Duterte.
Vice President Duterte and her brother, Davao City 1st District Congressman Paolo Duterte, are said to have traveled to the Netherlands to assist their father.
On Tuesday, the former President was arrested upon arriving in Manila from Hong Kong at NAIA Terminal 3. Following his arrest, he was placed in government custody at Villamor Air Base, where he remained prior to his departure.
Malacañang stated that hours before Duterte's arrival in the country, Interpol Manila received an official copy of the ICC warrant, prompting the Prosecutor General of the Department of Justice to execute the warrant.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. then confirmed that Duterte flew to The Hague in the Netherlands to stand trial for crimes against humanity tied to the war on drugs initiated under his administration.
