Vice President Sara Duterte has endorsed Senator Imee Marcos in her reelection bid, following her recent decision to part ways with the administration-backed slate, Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas.
In a political ad posted on Imee's Facebook page, both she and Vice President Duterte donned black attire, stating that 'black' is now the color that defines the country.
"Itim ngayon ang kulay ng bansa. Sa gutom at krimen nagluluksa," said Duterte.
"Gutom na ang sikmura. Gutom pa sa hustisya. Ginigipit ang hindi ka-alyansa," Imee said, following Duterte’s remarks.
The Vice President concluded her remarks by calling on the public to vote for Senator Marcos in the upcoming election.
Imee Marcos was previously part of the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas, a political slate endorsed by her brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Notably, she also joined and participated in several campaign rallies of the administration-backed coalition.
Citing a misalignment of values, Senator Imee Marcos withdrew from the administration-backed senatorial slate on March 26, following developments surrounding the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
The senator spearheaded an investigation in response to the International Criminal Court's (ICC) issuance of a warrant for former President Duterte, who is facing allegations of crimes against humanity.
She also previously stated that she harbored no resentment after her brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., failed to mention her name during the Alyansa campaign rallies in Cavite and Laguna.
