A 32-year-old suspect was seized by law enforcement for coercing his female colleague into sending him videos of her in the nude with threats to make compromising pictures taken of her public.
According to a report by the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG), the suspect had planted an obscured camera in the office comfort room.
“According to the victim, the suspect contacted her on Telegram, claiming to have nude photos and videos of her. He sent a photo with the message, ‘Sorry, sana hindi ikaw ‘yan (I hope that isn’t you),’” PNP-ACG Director Major General Ronnie Francis Cariaga said.
The victim testified that the suspect ordered her to send him nude videos, and even demanded she meet with him at a hotel. Only then would he delete the photos.
“These actions caused the victim severe anxiety and sleepless nights, prompting her to report the incident to Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 5,” Cariaga stated.
They arrested him via an entrapment operation at an Iriga City apartelle.
Cariaga advised anyone experiencing online abuse or harassment to let authorities know.
“We are available 24/7 to support and protect you,” Cariaga assured.
