The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) continues to warn residents near the Taal Volcano to take precaution as it is still emitting volcanic smog or vog.
Based on the 24-hour monitoring of PHIVOLCS issued on Monday, a vog is still observed in the volcano but it is not as strong as in the past few days.
The emission of volcanic sulfur dioxide (SO2) from the crater of the volcano decreased slightly, with 2,730 tons.
However, there is still an upwelling of hot volcanic fluids in Main Crater Lake.
Plumes have also continued to be emitted from the volcano for the past day, reaching a height of 2,400 meters.
Due to this, residents near the volcano are advised to limit going out and always close doors and windows to avoid exposure to volcanic smog.
Residents were also encouraged to cover their noses and wear N95 face masks.
Meanwhile, no volcanic earthquake has been recorded on the volcano in the past 24 hours.
Taal Volcano remains at Alert Level 1.
