“Dha Isidro”, the man who went viral for wearing a Philippine National Police (PNP) uniform as a Halloween costume, appeared before the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) on Monday to personally apologize for the incident.
During the hearing, Isidro expressed his remorse, saying, “I sincerely apologize and humbly ask for forgiveness. It was never my intention to disrespect the police uniform. I have the utmost respect for the members of our police force.”
The incident initially prompted a show-cause order from NAPOLCOM, and the PNP condemned the act as disrespectful and a violation of Article 179 of the Revised Penal Code. Acting PNP Chief PLTGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. called it an affront to the institution.
Following Isidro’s appearance and apology, NAPOLCOM Commissioner Rafael Calinisan announced that the show-cause order and any potential case against him would no longer proceed.
“We will not serve this [show-cause order] anymore. Let’s not make this bigger than it is. Dha is already remorseful,” Calinisan said.
