TV host and actor Vhong Navarro has been transferred to the detention facility of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Taguig City in connection with the rape case filed against him by model Deniece Cornejo.

In a decision, Branch 69 of the Taguig Regional Trial Court ordered the transfer of the custody of the comedian, whose real name is Ferdinand Navarro, from a detention cell of the National Bureau of Investigation to the Male Dormitory of the BJMP while he is awaiting the court’s ruling on his petition for bail.

He was moved at around 4 PM after completing all the required health protocols.

Navarro has been in the custody of the NBI after he surrendered last September. He has a rape case before the Taguig City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 69 and acts of lasciviousness case at Taguig Metropolitan Trial Court (MeTC) Branch 116.

In 2014, Navarro was accused of raping Cornejo, for which he was beaten up by a group led by businessman Cedric Lee.

Navarro sued Cornejo, Lee, and their cohorts for serious illegal detention. They are out on bail.

Last August, the Court of Appeals reversed the decision of the Department of Justice in 2018 and 2020, which dismissed the rape and acts of lasciviousness complaints filed by Cornejo against Navarro.
