Television host and actor Vhong Navarro surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Monday, Sept. 19 after a Taguig court issued a warrant of arrest against him for alleged acts of lasciviousness, his lawyer said.

In its order dated Sept. 15, the Metropolitan Trial Court of Taguig City Branch 116 finds probable cause to hold Navarro for trial for acts of lasciviousness based on one of the complaints previously filed by Cornejo.

A copy of the order was shared on media on Monday.

In a radio interview, Navarro's legal counsel Atty. Alma Mallonga said the host will remain under the custody of the NBI until his recommended bail of PHP 36,000 gets approved.

"Palagay ko hindi naman magkakaroon ng problema dahil kumpleto ang mga prerequisite. We are going to comply with it within the day. We are confident that Mr. Navarro will be granted bail," Mallonga said.

In August, the Court of Appeals' 14th Division reversed the decision of the Department of Justice in 2018 and 2020 to dismiss the complaints filed by Cornejo in 2014 accusing Navarro of attempted rape.

Cornejo in her affidavit accused Navarro of raping her on Jan. 17 and 22, 2014.
