The University of Santo Tomas (UST) confirmed reports that Bal David has stepped down as head coach of the Growling Tigers men's basketball team.
"The University of Santo Tomas has formally accepted the resignation of Mr. Bal David Jr. as Head Coach of the Men's Basketball team," the UST - Institute of Physical Education and Athletics said on Sunday, January 29, in a statement.
"The administration and the Thomasian community are sincerely grateful to Mr. David Jr. for his services and wish him all the best in his future undertakings," the statement further read.
David, who won two UAAP championships as a player for the UST Growling Tigers, took the helm of the España-based squad in July 2022.
During his six-month tenure as head coach, David steered the Tigers throughout UAAP Season 85 in which the team finished with a 1-13 win-loss record.
While UST has not yet named a replacement for David, reports have stated that Coach Pido Jarencio will make his return to the Growling Tigers.
