The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has intensified its restrictions on unauthorized online sellers of Beep cards, following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to stop hoarding and profiteering from the transit payment cards.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon clarified that the Beep card system does not issue so-called “beep charms,” warning the public against purchasing unofficial products.

The DOTr is coordinating with major online selling platforms such as Lazada, Shopee, TikTok, Carousell, and Facebook Marketplace to take down unauthorized listings.

“’Pag hindi sila nag-shutdown, pati ang mga platform na ’to, papakasuhan ko din kasi kinukunsinti nila yung mga illegal na activities online,” Dizon warned.

Dizon assured commuters that there is no shortage of Beep cards, noting that an additional 300,000 units have already been delivered to the MRT-3, LRT-1, and LRT-2.

To further control hoarding, the DOTr will also work closely with the Philippine National Police–Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) and install CCTV cameras in train stations, particularly in areas where Beep cards are sold.

“Magdalawang-isip na kayo kung gagawin ninyo pa ito, dahil mahuhuli kayo,” Dizon cautioned.
