The United Kingdom (UK) has expressed its condemnation against China's latest aggression in the West Philippine Sea last Saturday, Dec. 10, when it once again rammed and blasted water canon in the Philippines' vessels.

"The UK opposes any action which raises tensions, including harassment, unsafe conduct and intimidation tactics which increase the risk of miscalculation and threaten regional peace and stability," the foreign office of Britain said in a statement.

"Both China and the Philippines must adhere to the findings of the 2016 Arbitral Award proceedings, which are legally binding on both parties," it added.

On the other side, Beijing adamantly rejected and forcefully denounced the UK's "groundless accusations", according to a spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in London.

"We urge the British side to respect China's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests in the South China Sea, stop stirring up trouble and sowing discord," the embassy said in a statement posted on its website.

The Philippines earlier filed a diplomatic protest against China for its recent illegal acts at Scarborough Shoal and Ayungin Shoal, which are part of the country's exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

According to Foreign Affairs spokesperson Teresita Daza, Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian was also to be summoned.
