Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief PGen. Nicolas Torre III has relieved a police chief in Rizal province due to what he described as “diskarteng tamad” or being "lazy" in handling a theft complaint of a businessman.
According to a report by RH Edniel Parrosa on Monday, June 30, Torre said that the issue stemmed from a report made by a businessman who claimed that his own employees stole P600,000 from him.
However, instead of launching an immediate investigation, the police only issued a blotter and sent the complainant home, despite reportedly knowing where the suspect might have gone.
“Isipin mo naman nagreklamo yung tao na nawalan sila ng pera, alam naman nila kung saan pumunta yung tao. May idea sila kasi umuwi ng probinsya kasi syempre for so long empleyado nila ‘yun. Biglang nawala dala ang P600,000," Torre said during a press briefing at Camp Crame.
"So alam nila kung saan pupunta ‘yun. Wala man lang effort ang pulis natin initially kung hindi pa natin i-caution, kung hindi pa natin puwersahin,” he added.
Upon learning of the complaint, Torre immediately ordered the Rizal Provincial Police Office to take action.
Which Rizal police then coordinated with authorities in Negros Island, where the suspect had reportedly fled.
Following the cooperation with the police in the province the suspect was arrested and P500,000 of the stolen amount was recovered.
Meanwhile, Torre did not specify the exact location where the relieved police chief was assigned but noted that Antipolo is the only city in the province of Rizal.
