The death toll from Typhoon Tino has climbed to 114, with 127 people reported missing, the National Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Thursday.

Most of the fatalities were recorded in Cebu province, which reported 71 deaths. The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said these were primarily caused by falling debris and widespread flooding.

Negros Island Region recorded 30 deaths, while casualties were also reported in Antique, Capiz, Iloilo, Bohol, Leyte, Southern Leyte, including the six Philippine Air Force airmen in Agusan del Sur who died due to a helicopter crash.

In addition to the fatalities, RH Edniel Parrosa reported that 82 individuals were injured, prompting ongoing rescue and relief operations.

Emergency services continue to search for those still unaccounted for, while local governments coordinate efforts to provide shelter, medical care, and essential supplies to affected communities.

As of 5:00 AM on November 6, Typhoon Tino had strengthened over the West Philippine Sea, north of the Kalayaan Islands, PAGASA reported.

Meanwhile, a tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has intensified into Tropical Storm Fung-Wong, moving northwest at 20 km/h and expected to enter the PAR late Friday or early Saturday, where it will be named “Uwan.”

Defense Secretary Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro, who also chairs the NDRRMC, convened government agencies to prepare for the incoming storm.

The council has maintained its red alert status at the national operations center in Camp Aguinaldo to ensure that frontliners remain on 24/7 duty until the new storm passes.

In line with preparations for the anticipated storm, the Department of National Defense has canceled its formal events marking its 86th anniversary on Friday, November 7. Personnel will instead focus on disaster response efforts as the lead agency under the NDRRMC.

Authorities continue to closely monitor both storms and urge residents to stay alert, particularly those in flood and landslide prone areas.
