House Deputy Majority Leader and ACT-CIS party-list Representative Erwin Tulfo pushes to debunk the Oil Deregulation Law amid continuous oil price increases.
In his privilege speech, Tulfo said that the ACT-CIS party list will file a proposal to formally promote the repeal of said law.
According to him, Republic Act 8479, or the Oil Deregulation Law, does nothing good and instead makes the public suffer even more.
Tulfo said that the people were deceived, or na-onse," when it was enacted.
In the current system, it is obvious that the big oil companies conspire to determine how many oil price hikes will be implemented every week.
Tulfo said it seems that the role of the Department of Energy is to monitor price adjustments every week.
In the bill is the proposal to establish a fund that can be called "Budget ng Bayan" for cheap gasoline or serve as a subsidy when the price increases in petroleum products.
Meanwhile, Tulfo made the statement after oil companies announced another round of oil price hikes.
