Super typhoon Hinnamnor may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday night, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday, Aug. 31.

In its 11 am tropical cyclone advisory, the weather bureau said Super typhoon Hinnamnor was spotted at 980 kilometers northeast of Northern Luzon.

It has a maximum sustained winds of 195 kph near the center, 240 kph gust, and central pressure of 925 hPa.

PAGASA stated that it is moving west southwest at 30 kph.

“On the track forecast, “Hinnamnor” may enter the PAR region tonight,” it said.

The weather bureau noted that once Hinnamnor entered PAR, it would be named as “Henry” and will be recognized as a tropical cyclone.

It said that by late Thursday to Friday Sept. 1, Hinnamor may "become almost stationary."

“Light to moderate with at times heavy rains associated with the outermost rainbands of the super typhoon may affect Extreme Northern Luzon beginning on late Thursday or Friday,” the advisory said.

It added that the tropical cyclone may “enhance the Southwest Monsoon and bring monsoon rains over the western section of Luzon beginning on Friday.”

PAGASA also advised mariners to monitor updates as it forecast that the tropical cyclone Henry may “bring rough seas over the northern and eastern seaboard of Luzon beginning late Thursday, Sept. 1 or early Friday.”

“Such condition may be risky for those using small seacrafts,” it added

Meanwhile, the tropical Depression Gardo is maintaining its strength and moving northwest east of Northern Luzon.

In its 11 am tropical cyclone bulletin, PAGASA said Gardo moves northwest as it interacts with Super Typhoon Hinnamnor, which is outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

It said tropical depression Gardo has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

But the weather bureau noted that Gardo is “unlikely to directly affect the weather condition in the country within the forecast period.”

“Gardo will degenerate into a remnant low as early as this afternoon or tonight as “Hinnamor ” begins to assimilate its circulation,” it stated.
