Although no official statement has been released, former Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief PGen. Nicolas Torre III on Tuesday expressed his gratitude to the public, especially to his supporters through a social media post following his removal from office on Tuesday, August 26.
"Salamat po sa suporta nyo!," said Torre on his Facebook post.
Torre III has been relieved from his post effective immediately, based on a document signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla confirmed that Police General Jose Melencio Corpuz Nartatez Jr. will assume the role of PNP chief.
The former PNP chief was nowhere in sight during Tuesday’s turnover and assumption of command ceremony at Camp Crame.
According to Remulla, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. decided to remove Torre from his post to steer the police organization toward a "new direction."
Malacañang also confirmed on Wednesday that Marcos has offered Torre a new position in government, although the former police chief has yet to issue an official statement regarding the offer.
Torre, who served less than three months as PNP chief, assumed office on June 2, 2025.
