Actress-TV host Toni Gonzaga has stepped down as the main host of ABS-CBN's hit reality show "Pinoy Big Brother."
Earlier reports said Gonzaga, who has been hosting the show since 2005, "voluntarily endorsed" hosting duties to her co-host Bianca Gonzalez.
She, later on, confirmed the reports on her Instagram account by sharing her statement saying: "It has been my greatest honor to host PBB for 16 years."
"Today, I’m stepping down as your main host. I know Bianca and the rest of the hosts will continue to PBB legacy," she wrote. "Thank you, Kuya for everything."
Premiered in 2005, Toni is the only original host of Pinoy Big Brother to have stayed with the show until now.
Her departure comes a day after she hosted the proclamation rally of presidential aspirant Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his running mate Sara Duterte at the Philippine Arena.
Gonzaga drew criticism on social media after she introduced Rep. Rodante Marcoleta as part of the UniTeam’s senatorial slate.
Marcoleta was among those who pushed to deny the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN in 2020.
"Representante ng Sagip party list. May laban tayo sa kanya. Number 43 sa balota. Congressman but soon to be Senator Rodante Marcoleta," Gonzaga said in her introduction.
