Tuesday, April 22, was a day of triumph for actress and host Mikee Quintos, as she successfully defended her academic thesis.
In a series of Instagram stories, the architecture student shared photos and clips of her thesis defense at the University of Santo Tomas (UST). The clips showed Mikee preparing and presenting her thesis before the panelists.
Moments after her defense, the actress shared that the thesis jury revealed her final grade, adding that she will finally be graduating.
“Pov: your thesis jury just gave you your final grade and you’re finally graduating after 10 years in college,” her Instagram story read.
Mikee also shared a selfie with her thesis adviser while proudly showing a copy of her thesis. Overwhelmed with emotions, the actress posed with the acrylic boards she used to survey participants for her thesis, along with a copy of her thesis and presentation boards.
In 2021, a student from UST made a social media post, lamenting her classmate who gets good grades but does little to no work. Although the post did not name drop anyone specific, it indicated that the said classmate was a talent of one of the biggest media companies. The public alleged that it was Mikee to whom the post pertained.
However, in 2023, the actress addressed the controversy in a talk show, stating that the architecture thesis is done individually.
“Ito po kasi yung biggest misconception. People think that [an] architecture thesis is a group work, it’s not po. It’s individual,” she clarified.
“So medyo po nagkaroon ng ganoong issue na hindi po ako makagawa ng group work,” she added.
In February this year, Mikee turned the “walang ambag sa thesis” allegations into a moment of humor and posted a series of photos of her acrylic colored boards in various locations around Manila.
All the acrylic boards had, “Ambag ko ‘to sa thesis. Please SCAN the QR!!” written on them.
“If you find yourself in these locations, please spare a few minutes for a short survey through the QR codes on the blue acrylic boards with hugot lines!! Wala pong maling sagot, promise. Your time is much appreciated! Salamaaaat!!” she captioned her post.
