The teacher who slapped a fifth-grade pupil in Antipolo City is now facing charges after the latter died 11 days after the incident.

Mirasol Sison, a Filipino subject teacher, will face a charge of homicide for the death of 14-year-old Francis Jay Gumikib in relation to violating Republic Act 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.

In a televised interview, Antipolo police chief Lt. Col. Ryan Manongdo said that they are just waiting for the medico-legal and autopsy reports from the hospital.

However, M/Sgt. Divina Rafael, Antipolo City Police Women's and Children's Desk Chief, stated on Tuesday that they went to the school to speak with the principal, adviser, and the implicated teacher in order to obtain additional information and conduct a full investigation into the occurrence.

In an interview with DZRH's Damdaming Bayan, Sison denied the slapping accusation of Gumikib but said her hands softly touched his face.

According to the initial investigation, the 14-year-old victim was slapped by Sison on September 20 after denouncing his noisy classmates.

Elena Minggoy, the victim's mother, stated that her son told her that Sison grabbed his collar, yanked his hair, and slapped him across the face.

Gumikib was able to attend his lectures for three days before being transported to the hospital with dizziness, headaches, and earaches.

He passed away 11 days after being brought to the hospital for a brain hemorrhage.
