The group Taumbayan Ayaw sa Magnanakaw at Abusado Network Alliance (TAMA NA) has formally called on the Supreme Court (SC) to reverse its recent ruling on the articles of impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte.
David Michael San Juan, a professor at De La Salle University and member of TAMA NA, submitted a petition letter to the Supreme Court today, urging it to hold public oral arguments, reconsider its decision, and allow the impeachment trial to move forward.
The petition was endorsed by over 100 signatories, including academics, religious leaders, civic and health sector representatives, youth leaders, etc.
“Letter para hikayatin sila na i-reverse o baliktarin ang kanilang desiyon. Gusto natin magpa-oral argument sila, public oral arguments para mas mapag-usapan yung issue kasi naniniwala tayo hindi ito simpleng legal na isyu lamang. Ito’y isang moral at politikal na isyu, na dapat ng lahat ng mamamayan ay nakikisangkot at naririnig ang ating boses.” San Juan said.
“Yes, ang pormal nating panawagan ay i-reconsider at kung pupwede ay baliktarin nila ang kanilang desisyon, at bigyang daan nila na maipagpatuloy ng senado ang kanilang tungkulin na simulan na ang impeachment, ngayon na, forthwith, agad-agad.” he added.
“Duterte panagutin, Marcos singilin, Sara litisin” was the protest jingle of TAMA NA members while holding placards.
