Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) chairman Silvestro Bello III announced on Wednesday that Taiwan needs more Filipino employees, such as English teachers, hospitality workers, and caregivers, among others.

In an interview on DZRH’s Damdaming Bayan, Bello described Taiwanese employers as great to work with, as he had never received any complaints about domestic abuse from the overseas Filipino workers there.

"Yung treatment ng Taiwanese employer, kahanga-hanga. Sa one year ko, wala akong natanggap na reklamo ng isang OFW na siya ay ina-agrabyado, mina-maltrato, hindi binibigay ang sweldo. Wala pa akong natatanggap na complaint. In other words, maganda ang treatment.

Bello said that Taiwan needs more teachers and that it is better to work there, adding that the employers offer great benefits for the teachers as well.

"Meron in demand for teachers. Ang maganda diyan, maganda ang benefits.Pag ikaw ay graduate ng education pero wala pang board certificate, ang sweldo ay minimum of P100,000.Kapag naman board passer, nasa P150,000," he further explained.

The MECO chairman also urges aspiring English teachers in Taiwan to check online for job openings and send their papers to their offices.
