

A rating of 49% or almost half of the FIlipinos admitted on experiencing poverty in the country, based on a survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations.
The survey was conducted between September 29 until October 2 and is the first under the administration of President Bongbong Marcos. It was measured through a face-to-face interview with 1500 adults, ages 18 years old and above as respondents.
Based on the result, the majority of Filipinos feel poor at 49%, with only a difference of 1% compared to June of 2022.
There was an increase of self-rated poor in areas of Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao except Balance Luzon (areas in Luzon outside Metro Manila). Estimated number of families who say they are poor is at 12.6 million.
Meanwhile, 29% feel neutral and 21% do not feel poor.
SELF-RATED FOOD POVERTY
In the same survey, 34% of families have the inability to buy food for a proper diet. 38% of the respondents say that they are on the Food Borderline (between food-poor and not food-poor) while 28% say that they are not Food-Poor.
Only Food Borderline and Not Food-Poor have changed ratings compared to June 2022. A difference of 2% for Food Borderline, with a rating of 40% and the same percentage for Not Food-Poor with a rating 28%.
Sampling error margins are at ±2.5% for national percentages, ±5.7% each for Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao and ±4.0% for Balance Luzon.
