A Grade 2 student is now in critical condition after being hit by an SUV in a pedestrian lane in Albay.
According to Ruel Saldico's report on Rapido Hataw Balita, the incident happened in Barangay Buang, Tabaco City in Albay, just beside the 7-year-old student's school at Mayon Elementary School.
CCTV footage showed two young students confidently using a pedestrian lane while the road appeared to be clear and safe.
However, as they reach the middle of the street, one of the children was unfortunately hit by an oncoming SUV.
The young victim is thrown by the force of the collision because of the powerful impact.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BfP) near the area immediately gave first aid.
According to the SUV driver, he did not notice the two students crossing due to the van that was parked on the pedestrian, as it obstructed his view.
The local government unit (LGU) Tabaco has been identified as the owner of the van.
The victim's parents are currently seeking help with their son's medication.
Meanwhile, the SUV driver has expressed a commitment to provide financial assistance for the child’s medical treatment.
