The MT Princess Empress, the oil tanker that submerged and caused a massive oil spill in Oriental Mindoro and nearby provinces, has been located 7.4 nautical miles off Balingawan Point in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.
This was announced by Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito "Bonz' Dolor in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
"Sa wakas, natagpuan na ang MT Princess Empress!" he captioned, sharing a snippet photo of the MT Princess Empress.
The sunken ship was found by the Japanese dynamic positioning vessel (DPV) Shin Nichi Maru equipped with a remotely operated vehicle (ROV).
The MT Princess Empress which carried 800,000 liters of industrial fuel oil submerged last February 28 due to engine overheating.
The oil spill has spread as far as Verde Island in Batangas; Calapan City; Palawan; and Antique.
