The Senate of the Philippines will operate only until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, in light of this year's Traslacion, according to Senate Secretary Renato N. Bantug Jr.
"In view of road closures and traffic rerouting in some parts of Metro Manila on 9 January 2025, Senate President Francis “Chiz” G. Escudero has instructed that work in the Senate tomorrow shall only be until 2:00 p.m," the advisory stated.
Meanwhile, committee hearings, technical working groups, and other meetings may proceed as scheduled. Assigned staff for these hearings and meetings are directed to continue providing technical and administrative assistance until otherwise instructed by their respective chairpersons.
The Office of the Sergeant-At-Arms and the Maintenance and General Services Bureau personnel, who follow shifting schedules, are exempted from the shortened work hours.
Several roads in Manila were closed starting at 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, ahead of Thursday's Traslacion.
