More than 5,000 individuals reportedly went to the second day of the traditional “Pahalik” of the Black Nazarene’s image at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila on Sunday, January 7.
According to RH Christian Maño, the number of attendees reached over 5,000 at 3 PM.

The crowd number doubled from the 1,000 recorded at 12 PM as reported by RH Val Gonzales.

The lines reportedly reached past Roxas Blvd. at around 9 AM.

Interviewed by Gonzales, Judith, a 74-year-old devotee from Imus, Cavite, shared that it took them 30 minutes to get near the Black Nazarene’s image.
She said she had asked the Black Nazarene’s guidance for her children’s future as well as the progress of the nation.
“Ngayon, nakaalis na yung anak ko papuntang Canada,” Judith answered when asked what prayer was fulfilled in her years-long devotion.
In another interview, Hansing, a devotee from Tumauini, Isabela, said she prayed to the Senior to bless her and her family with good health.
“Every [feast] ni Nazarene, nandito ako. Panata ko na ito,” Hansing shared.
The public also flocked to the Quiapo Church to attend the Sunday mass, and the lines grew long up to a mall in Carriedo at past 10 AM.

The “Pahalik” activity commenced on Saturday, January 6.
The kissing of the image is strongly prohibited due to possible transmission of the COVID-19 virus.
Devotees are only allowed to touch and wipe the image with their towel or handkerchiefs.
