The Supreme Court has ordered Vice President Sara Duterte and her company to respond to the appeal of the House of Representatives on her impeachment case.
In its recent announcement on Tuesday afternoon, the Court mandated that Duterte must comply within 10 non-extendable days from the date she receives the notice.
This order follows the House of Representatives' appeal to reverse the Supreme Court's decision from July 25, which deemed the impeachment case unconstitutional.
On August 4, the House Prosecution team submitted a motion for reconsideration through the Office of the Solicitor General and the Philippine Judiciary portal.
In a unanimous vote of 13-0-2, the Supreme Court ruled that the Articles of Impeachment are barred by the one-year rule outlined in Article XI, Section 3, paragraph 5 of the Constitution.
Additionally, a notice has been served to Presidential Adviser on Poverty Alleviation Larry Gadon, political analyst Richard Heydarian, and Akbayan Representative Percival Cendaña, requiring them to respond within 10 days regarding the indirect contempt case filed against them last week due to their remarks on this issue.
