Former Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) chairman Reynold Munsayac has been chosen as the new spokesman of vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio, her office announced Tuesday.
Munsayac will be succeeding Liloan Mayor Maria Christina Frasco, who has accepted the role as the next Tourism secretary under the administration of President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
"Lawyer Reynold Munsayac will replace Mayor Christina Frasco as the spokesperson of Vice President-elect Sara Duterte starting Tuesday, June 21," Duterte-Carpio's camp said in a statement.
According to her camp, the presidential daughter "is grateful for Mayor Frasco's help in the timely and effective communication of her messages to the Filipinos through the media."
"She was committed to the truthful dissemination of information, and her duty as the spokesperson was marked with intelligence and grace," her camp added.
Duterte-Carpio also wished Frasco "all the best in her new role in nation building."
Meanwhile, Munsayac and the vice president-elect were classmates in law school.
Munsayac, who was the Valedictorian of their law school class and is a practicing lawyer, assisted Duterte-Carpio in the establishment of the worldwide aggrupation Tapang at Malasakit in 2017.
In 2021, Munsayac resigned as commissioner and acting chairman of the PCGG to help campaign for Duterte-Carpio.
"Munsayac's professional portfolio is highlighted by his unquestionable integrity and dedication to governance and public service, and the Vice President-elect is confident that he will be able to bring this experience to his new duty," Duterte-Carpio's camp stated.
In a Facebook post, Munsayac welcomed the appointment, thanking her for the "trust and confidence."
"It is an honor to serve as spokesperson for Vice President-elect Sara Z. Duterte, a great leader and a good person. I thank her for her trust and confidence in me," Munsayac wrote.
